I hope they go back to a more player initiated system like in DA:O. In DA:O I could talk to any character at any time in the camp. You had to specifically wait until the character quest was activated to talk to a character and it broke the immersion feeling.

:)ДA2 however really failed in that respect IMO. The Kelly dance show was cough appreciated though. Felt a bit awkward without options to talk to them there so I didn't really see the point. ME2 had something similar to where you could invite your lover to your cabin. That small bit where you could stop at any time and kiss the character you were in a relationship with was kind of fun too, mostly for the comments by your current party members. The way it developed in camp and the way companions commented on the relationship as it went forward were well done. Then Wynne got involved and there was a whole thing about her views on the two possible romances before I had to choose. I found it extra interesting when Leliana also started to develop feelings for the warden, as I thought I was just being nice to her. You learned a lot about Morrigans character if you stayed on that emotional rollercoaster all the way until the end in Witch Hunt. It was very well done IMO and very different from the basic one with Liara in Mass Effect. I really liked the complicated relationship that developed between my warden and Morrigan in DA:O. The sex scenes always are a bit cheesy and probably unnecessary for the most part, but it can add a bit of intimacy/immersion that just skipping past it doesn't achieve. When I played Fallout:NV after DA:O I actually found it kind of jarring that there was no romance options included. I hope it will continue to be included and made more interesting, complicated in future games. Romance is a natural part of life and storytelling, why should it not be in an RPG?ДЄs with all things, it's not always implemented very well, but you can always ignore it too if you want. I think the romance part is a really interesting addition to an RPG as it makes you get more involved in the world and the story. My question is: Was it relevant to your Warden's story? Did the romance add anything at all to the overall plot? It just feels to me like the child laughing at seeing pee pee parts in Mass Effect grew into a pimply teenager in Dragon Age. Wouldn't your Warden being in an intimate relationship with an Apostate Mage, a wanted criminal in Orlais, an Antivan Crow or the man who you support to be king be a great deal of political ammunition to use against you? Non party characters never said anything about it.

I think Bioware learned a little from Mass Effect, but as far as Romance went, it felt like the childish Mass Effect had grown into a little more mature teenage version of the same. It was rather corny and wasn't done well at all, in my opinion. You pick the right dialogue and you get rewarded with a blue chick banging Shepherd. It seems like any time a game has sex of any kind (Even the tame PG-13 cut scenes in Origins and Mass Effect) it gets slammed by the media and has a black eye forever after as some kind of gory sex simulator.ДЄnyways, it seemed to me that in the Mass Effect games, that the romance part of it was very childish and came off badly.
